How to find a Lieutenant

  • The Boss Board at the FOB opens after your second DMZ Order. Buy a Lieutenant's intel there to have them in your next deployment. Intel opens chapter by chapter: in Activision's screenshot, Bale's needs the Underground, Counterfeit and Human Intel chapters of the DMZ Orders.
  • Lieutenant Hunt towers are Side Ops: climb one and use the terminal at the top to find the nearest Lieutenant. The official Tac Map has 5, nearest to 14th Political Prison, Deadtown, Haneul Nuclear Reactor, Wolves Stadium and Hajin River Heights; turn on the Lieutenant Towers layer on our interactive Hajin map to see them. The Hunter Order on page 2 of the Orders asks for exactly this.
  • The Domino Protocol Dynamic Op ends with a Lieutenant: its steps are in our Dynamic Ops guide.
  • Mujin Pass, where Gorani hunts, is a minor place on the map: a farming community on a main road between two forests, with the Hospital to the north and the Array to the south.

What a Lieutenant drops

Every Lieutenant drops a Dog Tag Case. Picking it up shows your position to every player, so plan a fast exfil; getting out with it moves your Boss Board forward, even if you took the case from another player. More in our Dog Tags guide. Activision's two posts differ on the Lieutenant's weapon: the Hajin deep dive says you claim it with the kill, the FOB guide calls it a rare drop. Some Lieutenants also have a named key to their own room, listed on their cards above.

Commanders drop the rarest 3D Printer ingredients instead, like Military Composites from the Colossus and Prototype RF Modules from Deathstalkers. Which boss drops which, and where to find every other ingredient, is in our MW4 DMZ crafting materials list.

An Operator who is eliminated on a hunt, or does not make it out, goes MIA: what a rescue costs is in our MIA Operators guide, and the enemies at each threat level are in our threat levels guide.
