Story Missions
Operation Critical Extraction
Mirae General Hospital
Rewards: Mirae Electrical Room key, Defibrillator, 25,000 DMZ Cash
Threat assessment Medium; recommended gear: a 2-Plate Armor Vest and a Medkit. The steps are the objectives shown on screen during the mission (the mission screen sums them up as locate the HVT, eliminate any resistance, extract the HVT). General Kang rides a hospital bed: push it from elevator to elevator up to the roof. He cannot die.
Confirmed by 6 sources, including video 1 at 3:14, video 2 at 3:20, video 3 at 0:01, video 4 at 0:40, video 5 at 4:57. Checked 2026-10-21 (DMZ Early Access, day 2).
Operation Silent Ledger
Cheongun Village
Rewards: Gold Bar, Counting Room Vault key, Polaris Dagor A1 (Paid Infil), 25,000 DMZ Cash
The casino is the Heavenly Luck Casino. Threat assessment Medium; recommended gear: a 2-Plate Armor Vest and a Medkit. The plates are stolen printing plates, in a marked bag inside the vault: you must exfil with them. The bags of cash in the vault are a bonus you can load onto the truck outside and take to the exfil. The Polaris reward lets you pick it as a Paid Infil; each use still costs DMZ Cash.
Confirmed by 5 sources, including video 1 at 0:03, video 2 at 0:00, video 3 at 0:26, video 4 at 8:12. Checked 2026-10-21 (DMZ Early Access, day 2).
Operation Shopping Hacks
NuriGO Mall
Rewards: Coin Mining Den key, Night Vision Goggles, 25,000 DMZ Cash
Threat assessment Medium; recommended gear: a 2-Plate Armor Vest, a Medkit and Night Vision Goggles (you can also find a pair underground). The mission screen lists three objectives: Hack the Network, Reprogram the Protocol and Secure any Evidence; the steps above are how players' walk-throughs break them down. The guides disagree on whether the goggles reward is the goggles or their blueprint.
Confirmed by 3 sources: video 1 at 3:16, video 2 at 8:32, video 3 at 0:13. Checked 2026-10-21 (DMZ Early Access, day 2).
Operation Iron Citadel

Rewards: Supreme Leader Access Card, LTV (Paid Infil), 25,000 DMZ Cash
Threat assessment Critical; recommended gear: a 3-Plate Armor Vest, a Medkit and an Ammo Box. The base is run by Lieutenant Bae. The mission screen lists three objectives: Infiltrate the Base, Recon Armory Ordnance and Disrupt the Operation. Expect a Colossus commander here.

Operation Grid Assault
The Grid

Threat assessment Critical; recommended gear: a 3-Plate Armor Vest and a Medkit. The mission screen lists Access the Network, Download Network Intel and Upload Kill Switch; the steps above are the objectives shown during the mission. The two code segments are in two different buildings in The Grid. You upload the code on a rooftop while enemies pour in, then one player climbs the radio tower to broadcast it. A Death Stalker helicopter commander can turn up on the roof.
Confirmed by 2 sources: video 1 at 0:10, video 2 at 17:50. Checked 2026-10-21 (DMZ Early Access, day 2).
Operation Fallen Ember
Haneul Nuclear Reactor
Rewards: Reactor DRC Locker key, Cargo Plane (Paid Infil), 25,000 DMZ Cash
The final Story Mission. Threat assessment Extreme; recommended gear: a 3-Plate Armor Vest, a Medkit, a Gas Mask and Radiation Blockers. The mission screen lists three objectives: Breach the Reactor, Secure the Rods and Extract Decontaminated Rods. The pool is irradiated, so bring more than one gas mask each.

How missions work in MW4 DMZ
Every deployment starts at the FOB's Deploy menu, where you pick one of three ways in: a Story Mission, a Dynamic Operation or Free Roam. DMZ Orders run alongside all three, and Side Ops wait in Hajin whichever you pick.
- Story Missions tell the DMZ story inside specific places in Hajin, solo or with a squad. Each has a briefing, a threat assessment, recommended gear and rewards, usually high-value gear and DMZ Cash. You can replay them, pick a random one, and earn extra rewards at completion milestones. There are 6 at launch: Operation Critical Extraction, Operation Silent Ledger and Operation Shopping Hacks come first, in any order; finishing them opens Operation Iron Citadel and Operation Grid Assault, and those open the last one, Operation Fallen Ember. Only one squad in a match can run a given Story Mission, but other squads can still come after you there.
- DMZ Orders are your mission list at the FOB, organized in pages. They teach the mode, tell the story and pay out resources, loot and cash. Check them before you deploy: a Story Mission can tick off an Order at the same time. Finishing your second Order opens the Boss Board.
- Dynamic Operations are made up fresh for each match, so they have no fixed steps to list. Pick one before you deploy or start one from a Dynamic Ops phone. The Hunt Operators Op sends you after a full squad of rival players.
- Side Ops are lower-risk jobs on the map: UAV Towers (they pay DMZ Cash and reveal nearby players and enemies), SAM Sites, Lieutenant Hunt towers, lost Supply Drops and broken trucks.
Story Missions hand out keys too: the mission screens we have seen say Operation Critical Extraction pays the Mirae Electrical Room key, Operation Silent Ledger pays the Counting Room Vault key, Operation Shopping Hacks pays the Coin Mining Den key, Operation Iron Citadel pays the Supreme Leader Access Card, Operation Grid Assault pays the Rose's Highrise Armory key and Operation Fallen Ember pays the Reactor DRC Locker key. Where those doors are is in our MW4 DMZ key finder. Our DMZ beginner's guide explains a full deployment, the threat levels guide covers the enemies guarding mission areas, and the vehicles guide lists the Paid Infil options you can pick for a Dynamic Op.
Questions
How many Story Missions are in MW4 DMZ?
6 at launch. Operation Critical Extraction, Operation Silent Ledger and Operation Shopping Hacks come first, in any order; finishing them opens Operation Iron Citadel and Operation Grid Assault, and those open the last one, Operation Fallen Ember. You can replay any of them.
How do you start a Story Mission in MW4 DMZ?
At the FOB, open Deploy and pick Story Missions. You get a list of missions to play or replay, a briefing with the objectives, the mission rewards, and an option to start a random Story Mission.
What are Dynamic Operations in DMZ?
Objectives made up fresh for each deployment. Pick one before infil, or find a Dynamic Ops phone in Hajin to start one in the field. Each one you finish pays DMZ XP and DMZ Cash and drops a Supply Drop, which gets better with each Operation you finish in the same deployment: Common, then Uncommon, then Rare.
What are Side Ops in MW4 DMZ?
Smaller jobs you find in Hajin that pay DMZ XP, resources or intel: activating a UAV Tower, capturing a SAM Site, climbing a Lieutenant Hunt tower, finding lost Supply Drops or repairing trucks.
Do you keep DMZ XP if you fail to exfil?
Yes. Activision says the DMZ XP you earn during a deployment still counts toward your DMZ Level even if you fail to exfil.
