Every Prestige also needs an Operator with all 18 Trait Points earned. The points do not have to be spent, and the Operator must not be Missing in Action.

How Operator Prestige works
Each Operator levels a Dog Tag from Steel I to Onyx III: 6 tiers of 3 levels, one Trait Point per level, 18 in total. With 66 Traits spread over three trees (Warfighter, Scout, Survivalist, 22 each) and at most 9 Traits per tree, 18 points let you fill two trees or spread across all three. Once you pick a Trait it is locked in. Our DMZ skill tree guide shows how a tree is laid out and lists every Trait named so far.
Prestige is how you keep something after the reset. When you Prestige, the required gear goes into the Loadout and is used up, the cash leaves your Bank, the Traits reset, and the Operator gets one random Permanent Prestige Trait. After three Prestiges the Operator has three permanent Traits. From the fourth on, each Prestige offers one new permanent Trait: swap it for one you have, or keep your three.
Take the items you want to keep out of the Operator's Backpack and Loadout before you Prestige, since those are used up too.

Where to find Rare gear and cash
Higher-threat areas hold better loot and harder enemies. Lieutenants carry customized weapons and can drop keys to their loot rooms, and Commanders drop prized 3D Printer ingredients and a lot of DMZ Cash. The Hajin locations list shows which areas are rated Critical or Extreme, and the enemy guide covers the Commanders. If you are still getting used to the FOB, start with the DMZ beginner's guide.
Questions
How much does Operator Prestige cost in MW4 DMZ?
The first Prestige costs 200,000 DMZ Cash, the second 300,000, and the third and every one after it 500,000, on top of the gear each level asks for.
What do you get for Prestiging an Operator?
A random Permanent Prestige Trait that stays with that Operator, even if you dismiss them, move them to another slot or change their skin. An Operator can hold up to three. Prestiging several Operators also earns Calling Cards and other rewards Activision has not named yet.
Do you lose anything when you Prestige?
Yes. The required gear and the DMZ Cash are used up, and the Operator's Traits reset, so you earn and spend Trait Points again from the start.
Are Operator Traits random?
Partly. Each Trait Tree has 6 Major Traits you can always see and 16 Minor Traits that are randomized, including the first one you get when you open a tree. Permanent Prestige Traits are random too; from the fourth Prestige on, each Prestige offers a new one you can swap in for one you have.
Is DMZ Operator Prestige the same as the normal Prestige?
No. It is separate from the level 1 to 55 player progression, the level 1 to 70 DMZ progression and the other Modern Warfare 4 Prestige systems, and it belongs to one Operator.
