MW4 DMZ Weapon Manuals: How to Get Them
A Weapon Manual unlocks a base weapon in the DMZ Gunsmith. Exfil with a weapon's manual once and you can buy that weapon there as often as you like. Without it, a weapon you bring out is a single copy that is gone if you lose it.

What a Weapon Manual does
- A Weapon Manual unlocks a base weapon in the DMZ Gunsmith. Exfil with a weapon's manual once and you can buy that weapon there as often as you like.
- A weapon you loot and exfil with goes to your Stash as a single copy. You can still upgrade it at the Gunsmith, but if you lose it on a deployment, that weapon type stays locked until you have its manual.
- A manual is used up when you exfil with it: the weapon is added to the Gunsmith automatically and you get 5,000 DMZ Cash, the same as for a 3D Printer Recipe.
How to get Weapon Manuals
Find one as loot during a deployment and get it out alive: a manual only counts once you exfil with it. Activision's June overview says buying weapons outright opens up as you work through Mission Orders and extract Weapon Manuals; until then you rely on weapons you scavenge. The DMZ beginner's guide covers infil, exfil and what you lose when you die.
Where to find Weapon Manuals
Activision has not listed where Weapon Manuals spawn: they are loot somewhere in Hajin. We add places here once two players' videos show the same one.
Until then, the MW4 DMZ key finder lists the locked rooms players have opened, and the interactive Hajin map shows the 13 major places with their threat levels.
Buying weapons at the Gunsmith
The Gunsmith opens at DMZ Player Level 10. Activision lists 32 weapons you can buy there at launch, once you have their manuals:
- Assault Rifles: 8
- SMGs: 5
- Shotguns: 2
- LMGs: 3
- Marksman Rifles: 3
- Sniper Rifles: 3
- Pistols: 4
- Launchers: 4
A base M4 costs about 5,000 DMZ Cash. Each of its five attachment slots costs extra DMZ Cash to open, and every slot after the first costs more. The Apex Attachment slot is free once the weapon is fully leveled.

- Weapon levels are shared between Multiplayer and DMZ, so attachments you unlock in one mode are there in the other. The M4 has 72 levels.
- A Weapon Blueprint you own can be used once for free in the DMZ Gunsmith. If you lose it on a deployment, you can buy it again at a discount compared with building the same weapon.
- You start able to carry two weapons (plus a melee weapon) in and out. A Weapon Backpack, looted or 3D printed, holds another weapon, so you can bring more weapons out of each run.
Working on camos too? The MW4 camo tracker lists the Mastery Camos for each mode.
